Artist Juliana Santacruz Herrera has transformed the streets of paris through her visual intervention using braided strips of colourful fabric. Seeing the many cracks and potholes of the city as the ‘canvas’ of her project, the site-specific pieces are a playful addition to the grey urban setting.

Anthropomorphic tree
Anthropomorphism is the recognition of people-like characteristics in animals, plants or non-living things. This tree can be found in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. During the time of slavery in the South, slave ships were often unable to make it through the Outer Banks because of the treacherous landscapes. From the looks of this picture, it seems as if they may have lost some passengers along the way.

Andrea Marshall. Frida Kahlo divided. Photographed by KRISTIINA WILSON.
ANDREA MARSHALL’s work consists mainly of self-portraits that explore the Self in relation to traditional archetypal concepts of the nature of womanhood. She attempts to visually render this juxtaposition through a symbiotic dialogue between history and contemporary culture. Through a range of media, including both painting and photography, she examines internal psychological conflict through Personas reflecting the idealistic and tragic nature of the prototypical female.
